What to wear on my first day of class?

Beginner classes do not need to buy all professional clothing or shoes. Loose clothing and a long flowing skirt are recommended. These images are to assist beginner students.

Advanced beginners and Intermediate/Open level technique classes must wear Flamenco attire.

Here are some examples for beginner introduction classes: (you can improvise for day 1)

These shoes are from Bloch called ‘showstoppers’

DAY 1

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing, including tops and bottoms (such as a full-length skirt).
  • Use strapped, comfortable, low-heeled shoes. These must be closed-toe shoes
  • Water bottle
  • Castanets, if you have any ( I have spares to use)

A note from Marina Tamayo.

Much love and respect, Marina Tamayo

Each dance piece I create for the dancer is imbued with layers of historical meaning, emotion, and traditional intention. My art has become a powerful outlet for me to process my experiences, convey my perspectives on the human condition, and inspire contemplation and connection in those who view it.

I relish the opportunity to delve deeper into my craft, to push the boundaries of my abilities, and to create works for dancers that are not only technically masterful but profoundly moving and thought-provoking. It is about making connections.

This transition has breathed new life into my artistic choreographic passion, and I am energised by the prospect of dedicating myself fully to this next chapter of creative exploration and expression.
