Marina Tamayo Freelance artist, Granada. 

Marina is a professional freelance dancer. Her has training includes Ballet, Jazz, Spanish, Flamenco, Contemporary, Folk dance styles. Marina  studied Flamenco with the local gypsy artist Paco Torres of Sacromonte, Granada,  and has studied with some of the most prominent gypsy artists in the Flamenco industry including Luis de Luis, Manolete, El Guito, Belen Maya.

Marina studied for four years full-time at the Institute of Flamenco in Madrid, ‘El Amor de Dios’ alongside some of the world’s most recognized contemporary Flamenco artists. IN addition, Marina trained intensively for one month with Graciela Rios Saiz in classic,al Spanish Danza Espanola in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

As a solo artist, she has performed in theatre, TV, film, and music videos. Marina has contributed to the  Australian Flamenco arts community, by developing new markets, local and abroad (regional), increased audience participation through public and community workshops and performances, curating festivals, and organizing professional performances and events. Tamayo’s commitment to teaching spans over thirty-eight years and her dedication to the Dance sector has recently been recognised by the Australian Dance Council in an Australian Dance award nomination for  her  ”Service to Dance”, 20218. 

Marina has produced multiple  theatre shows. These have been presented at local, state and National events, Fringe and Contemporary Dance Festivals. Tamayo has presented five star rated, award winning shows. These include the Las Alpújarras, Colores de la Vida, Flamenco del Mar, The Sounds of Spain,  Flamenco Tablao,  in collaboration with Aitor Hernandez from the Ballet Nacional of Spain and Jesus Olmedo in Folkmenco, and Inertia;  and the multiple award winning and nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Choreography” Australian Dance Awards and “Best Costume” Auckland Festival, 2020 for the production ‘EME RALD’.


Jesus Olmedo Royal Conservatory of Madrid


Jesus is an award-winning dancer, a joyful and encouraging teacher. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Madrid. With an impressive background in Ballet and Spanish Dance, Jesus has been fully immersed in the Spanish Flamenco community since he was 8 years old. Jesus is also talented in percussion and flamenco guitar.

Jesus’s classes are expertly planned and integrated with good technique and meaningful milestones that bring joy and love into an intensive support class for serious students of flamenco,  ideal for technical drills, marcaje, and traditionally structured choreography. Flamenco Australia is fortunate to have this caliber artist return frequently raising the bar of technical and artistic training.

Jesus has performed with many of the great Flamenco artists of Spain. He is well known and respected in the Flamenco world, touring as a performer world wide. 

Jesus is offering in 2021 teaching online castanets, pataita de bulerias, improvisation, singing theory for dancers and flamenco guitar/percussion, as a group or private sessions. 


Rut Santamaria LLorente

Rut Santamaria is an accomplished singer of various styles. During the periods of 2012 – 2017, Rut joined Flamenco Australia as lead Spanish singer in Flamenco del Mar, recorded an album titled “Flamenco del Mar” and performed in all of Flamenco Australia productions. This band performed and toured Australia and Tasmania for the five year period. Rut has returned to Spain, yet continues to provide weekly classes online to students from Australia.
